France to Build Third Oasis Class Cruise Ship

third Oasis Class Cruise ship

Recently I traveled on Radiance of the Seas cruise ship and watching the TV while having my Nana nap (as you do on a cruise) and heard about third Oasis Class Cruise ship being built in France.  I actually watched the Oasis of the seas being built and I was mesmerized at how the ship was put together like a jig saw puzzle taking many hours of labor to piece it back together.

All the planning and discussions that went between the designers and the ship owners was unbelievable.  I even saw the statesmen cabins all being built complete with the wiring attached so they only needed to be connected.  All was transported where the skeleton of the ship was docked and literally pieced together.

Third Oasis Class Cruise Ship – to join the fleet

Reading today through the cruise news I saw in print what I had already witnessed on tv – written by cruise critic and this is what they wrote:
(9:40 a.m. EST) — Royal Caribbean’s third Oasis-class vessel will be built by STX’s shipyard in France and will be delivered in mid-2016. The cruise line also took an option for a second ship with a potential delivery of mid-2018. The order for the ship was first announced in October, but since then it has been unclear which shipyard would actually build it. Both Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas were built at STX Turku in Finland, but Finland was unable to pull together adequate funding to secure the ship order.

Cost involved in building third Oasis Class Cruise Ship

Third Oasis Class Cruise ShipThat is really a shame that Finland can not fund this huge project as they have done an outstanding job on the Oasis and Allure.

Dori Saltzman, News Editor recently wrote: According to the South Florida Business Journal, the price per berth for the ship will cost less than either Oasis or Allure. And while the cruise line did not provide the actual price, it did reveal its projected capital expenditures for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 are $1.3 billion, $700 million, $1.2 billion, $1.2 billion and $1.3 billion, respectively.

So much money tied up in building these massive ships do you believe that they will have any trouble filling the third Oasis Class Cruise ship?  I think not the way that cruising is becoming one of the best forms of travel and at this stage people can not get enough of it and think the third Oasis class cruise ship will be around for many years.
